For the ninth consecutive year Maine's Doctor Zee (Dr. Darryl Zeleniak) has upgraded his Christmas Light and Music Show. It isn't as if it NEEDED upgrading, since the previous versions were already dazzling, but Doctor Zee is a bit(?) of a perfectionist, and his office light show has become one of his targets.
Once again he returned from the Christmas Expo filled with more grand ideas, tricks, and thoughts of sugarplums. Then he hyped himself up even more by playing someTransSiberian Orchestra music for inspiration. As in previous years he's journeyed to cities across the East to attend the conference and trade show of the latest in Christmastime lights and music technology. Once again the result is yet another upgrade to his very popular show. It's become a "must see" for many throughout Maine! See it live if you can! If not, surf the Vids on Youtube with the links provided here.
The show can be seen in person at 132 State St in Augusta (one block north of the Memorial Circle) where is broadcast on 91.7 FM for those who want to stay warm and dry in the car or on speakers for those who want to dance like Nutcrackers. You can also click on the links provided to view musically accompanied videos on Youtube. (Not quite the same, but easier and more comfortable...)
Thousands of LED lights, A computer and a backup. Multiple Light O Rama controllers and 15(!) Cosmic Color Ribbons with over 150 LED channels per ribbon.
Planning begins in August and set up starts during in October's warm days. It takes about a full week's work to plan and set up. Besides stringing and installing lights, sequencing and (programming) the music to the lights takes a lot of time.
